offer of a supply had been made to the Control department through the Assistant Military secretary, and that the offer had not been accepted in consequence of the misunderstanding which had arisen from the request made to me by the General to the effect that during correspondence, even of a financial character, should be prohibited between the Officers of the Imperial and Colonial Treasuries.
The wishes of the Lords of the Treasury in such respect having now been made known to me, no further difficulty need be apprehended, and on the arrival of subsidiary coins due notice will as heretofore be given to the Commissariat Department.
In respect to that part of our Lordship's despatch of the 21st November 1234 Mo 155 in which information is sought as to the amount of premium which from time to time have been realised on the issue of subsidiary coinage to the Public - the dates at which each shipment was first issued, the Regency through which it had been despatched, and the length of time taken to place the whole in circulation, I have the honour to report as follows:-
